The TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) Center in Malta Officially Unveiled
On November 17, the TCM center cofounded by Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and University of Malta officially unveiled. Head of the University Council Zhang Zhiqiang, President of University of Malta Juanito Camilleri, and Chinese Ambassador to Malta Cai Jinbiao cut the ribbon for the unveiling ceremony. Around 30 representatives from the bilateral sides attended the ceremony.
During the ceremony, Camilleri thought highly of the efforts made by the both sides in TCM teaching and medical cooperation. He said that with the support by the local government in Malta, the two sides could make use of the strengths of TCM and provide more guarantee for the health of the local people, thus making Universityof Malta the teaching base in Malta and other European countries. Zhang expressed his gratitude to Malta for the support in the buildup of the center, and hailed it as a huge achievement in the international cooperation and exchange in the TCM arena. Zhang also showed intentions to further cooperation in the TCM field between the two universities, even the two countries, on the basis of initial cooperation with Malta.
The TCM centerin Malta is mainly built up by Longhua Hospital. At the moment, 2 doctors specialized in acupuncture & moxibustion, and tuina are working at the center. The center will become a significant platform of TCM development in Malta and Europe.
