Q:Are Overseas Students Allowed to Live Outside Campus?

A: Overseas students can be living both in universitydormitory and outside campus. Overseas students who choose to live outsidecampus are required to obtain “Overseas Students Outside-Campus AccommodationRegistration Form” by providing the rental contracts.  After properly filling the “Overseas StudentsOutside-Campus Accommodation Registration Form”, they shall reach the localpolice office of their rented place, and finish the formalities of “RegistrationForm of Temporary Residence for Foreign Visitors”.

Q: For overseas students who alreadypurchased personal insurance, is “Comprehensive Insurance for Overseas StudentsStudying in China” still required?

A: Yes, for overseas students who alreadypurchased personal insurance, “Comprehensive Insurance for Overseas StudentsStudying in China” is still a prerequisite for registry in Chinese university.

It is laid down by “Chinese TertiaryEducation Institute Requirement for Overseas Student to Purchase ComprehensiveInsurance Interim Provisions” issued by the Ministry of Education of China thatoverseas students studying in China are obliged to purchase comprehensiveinsurance before they can go through the registry formalities. Individualinsurance policy shall not be identified as a canonical document forregistration and temporary residence registration in China.


Currently, overseas students of ouruniversity purchase “Comprehensive Insurance of Pacific Insurance Company”.

If while this Policy is in force and the Insured dies due to  illness, or becomes totally disabled as defined under the Policy, the Company  shall pay the Insurance Amount.

Accidental  Medical Treatment

While this Policy is in force, if an Insured, as a result of  injury caused by an Accident receives any Medically Necessary treatment from  a hospital of grade II and above, the Insurer will pay for SHIP eligible  medical expenses which are necessary and reasonable without  any deduction,

Outpatient  Benefit

While this Policy is in force, if the Insured  receives medical treatment from the out-patient / emergency department of a  Hospital of grade II and above, and incurs SHIP eligible medical expenses the  Insurer will pay 60% of the necessary and reasonable expenses  that is in excess of RMB 500.

Inpatient  Benefit

While this Policy is in force, if an Insured, as a result of  illness or injury caused by an Accident is confined in a Hospital of grade II  and above and incurs SHIP eligible medical expenses, the Insurer will pay the  Inpatient Benefit without any deduction.

If the  hospitalization incurs when the insured returns to his homeland, the insurer  will only reimburse the bed and nursing expenses, up to RMB 100 per day  respectively, for maximum 30 days.
