Silk Road scholarship to fund foreign students
In order to enhance the communication and cultural exchange between China and countries along the Silk Road Economic Belt, Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (SHUTCM) has set up a scholarship to support students from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Russia, who would study Chinese language and traditional Chinese medicine at the university.

The scholarship will fund 15 students each academic year. Pak Anastassiya, a Kazakhstan student learning Chinese language at the international education school of the university, was granted the first scholarship.
Foreign students from those countries studying for a degree at the university can apply for the scholarship. Students in bachelor, master and doctorate degrees can be provided with a total of 20,000 yuan ($3,222), 18,000 yuan and 24,000 yuan each during the whole study period.
