Practical Chinese Language Program (Puxi Area)
1. Orientation:
The practical Chinese language program is suitable for the foreigners who are busy caring for their family and lack enough time for learning Chinese. The classes will place equal importance on listening, speaking, reading and writing Chinese in order to equip students with further practical capabilities. A genuine Chinese cultural environment will be created to motivate and enhance their language learning with diverse activities and cultural experience.
2. Levels of the courses, Suitable Learners &Course features:
Levels of the courses and suitable learners:
? Introductory Level: The courses include introductory intensive reading, introductory speaking, introductory listening, which are suitable for the students whose mother tongue is not Chinese and have not learnt Chinese at all.
? Elementary Level: The courses include Elementary intensive reading, Elementary speaking, Elementary listening, which are suitable for the students whose mother tongue is not Chinese. And students are required to have a Chinese vocabulary over 1000 words or have studied Chinese for half a year.
? Intermediate Level: The courses include Intermediate intensive reading, intermediate speaking, intermediate listening, which are suitable for the students whose mother tongue is not Chinese. And students are required to have a Chinese vocabulary over 2000 words or have studied Chinese for over one year.
? Advanced Level: The courses include advanced intensive reading, advanced audio visual-oral course, Advanced reading comprehension, which are suitable for the students whose mother tongue is not Chinese. And students are required to have a Chinese vocabulary over 2500 words or have studied Chinese for over one and half a year.
Course features:
? Mixture of International students, which is conducive to multicultural communication
? About 10 students one class, teachers can focus on each student, they will get more opportunities to practice.
? Placement test at the beginning of each semester is convenient for the students to choose the appropriate learning level.
Cultural experience and language practical activities:
? Chinese cultural activities will be held every month each term. These include Chinese paper-cuts, Chinese-knot making, Chinese calligraphy&painting introduction and celebrations of traditional Chinese festivals (rice dumpling making on Dragon Boat Festival, mooncake making on Mid-Autumn Festival, etc.)
? Each term, students will be arranged to visit historical and cultural sights in or around Shanghai.
? Activities will be held each term, such as Ping-Pong game, Fun games, Chinese speech contest, Chinese show competition, etc.
Rich and colorful cultural experience and language practical activities aim to help students know Chinese culture deeply, and learn happily in a relaxing, active and multicultural environment.

We welcome students to register at any time of the academic year. Except for introductory, every level can be enrolled in immediately.
