Academic exchange between the school of Rehabilitation Medicine, Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Creighton University, USA

2014 summer, a 10-student team from School of Rehabilitation Medicine, Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine visited Creighton University for exchange learning. The Visiting group carried out "promote traditional Chinese medicine culture, showing characteristics of traditional Chinese rehabilitation" as the theme of the exchange exhibition. They spread many Chinese traditional rehabilitation skills to American friends, such as the acupuncture therapy, moxibustion and massage therapy and etc. Hundreds of Creighton University alumni attended the event.


With classical melodious sound lingering in the air, two students from Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine showed the Chinese traditional health care exercises: Baduanjin. Three Creighton University alumni enthusiastically participated in the interaction.


The Chinese Massage therapy show focused on some typical practices such as the Ding's rolling method, one finger method, shaking method, grasping method and rocking method and etc. Two American teachers were deeply fascinated and asked for the initiative to participate in the interaction. These beginners looked a kind of norm and acted impressive. Under the leadership of panel members, Creighton University alumni massaged each other in small groups,fully enjoying the wonderful experience of ancient Chinese medicine.


The School of Rehabilitation Medicine, Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine has long been keeping its commitment to the heritage and development of Chinese medicine cultural and traditional knowledge of rehabilitation. This event allows more foreign friends know Chinese medicine, to learn traditional Chinese medicine and even to form a strong interest to traditional Chinese medicine cultures such as acupuncture, traditional Chinese medicine, Chinese meridian theory, Chinese massage and acupuncture regimen and etc. As an American friend's feeling goes "You are playing an active role in spread of the Chinese traditional rehabilitation knowledge, and I believe that one day it will have a place in the development of rehabilitation in the West.”
