Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine hired Dr. Yan Chen from University of Rochester as an Adjunct Professor

Recently, an adjunct professor appointment ceremony from Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital was held in Shanghai Municipal Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, appointing the member of Medical Cardiovascular Research Institute of Rochester University Dr. Yan Chen as the adjunct professor.


Dr. Yan Chen is currently the life-long associate professor in Cardiovascular Research Institute, University of Rochester School of Medicine and leads an independent research team, presiding over a number of projects funded by the U.S. NIH and the American Heart Association(AHA).Dr. Yan Chen has been engaged in the research of regulation and function of the second messenger--cycle adenosine monophosphate(cycle AMP), cyclic guanosine monophosphate(cycle GMP) and phosphodiesterase (PDE) in cardiovascular system , maintaining the leading international position in this area.


Dr. Yan Chen will join as an adjunct professor at Shanghai Municipal Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine and provide strong support in the fundamental research of traditional Chinese medicine treatment of cardiovascular diseases, in particular to traditional Chinese medicine treatment of coronary disease, heart failure in terms of the specific mechanism of action.


Vice President of Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine Shi Jianrong issued letters of appointment to Dr. Xiang Yanchen. She also pointed out that this cooperation will further strengthen cooperation and exchanges between Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and University of Rochester, especially the strengthening cooperation in clinical and basic research in cardiovascular, the joint training and other aspects between Municipal Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine and School of Basic Medical Science. Besides, both parties would take personnel training as the starting point, making full use of the opportunity to cooperate with Professor Yan Chen and constantly improve the scientific quality of the talent that enhance the overall level of discipline to further promote research and development of other disciplines.


Currently, Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine has hired 40 well-known professors from home and abroad as the adjunct professor of Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine to provide intellectual support for the academic development of the school.
